GOG.com está buscando funcionar más al estilo de Steam, pero sin sacrificar el ofrecer títulos libres de DRM, su principal característica. Y planea lograrlo con el servicio optativo Galaxy, donde los jugadores que así lo deseen podrán instalar el cliente del servicio en su computadora y disfrutar de títulos multijugador y la comodidad de actualizaciones automáticas.
La filosofía de GOG.com detrás de Galaxy, es el permitir que los jugadores puedan continuar disfrutando de las campañas en solitario de los juegos, sin necesidad de una conexión a Internet, al tiempo que usen la plataforma para iniciar el apartado multijugador de dichos títulos, y compartir logros. Incluso jugadores haciendo uso de Galaxy, podrán jugar con aquellos en Steam, y GOG.com promete que otras plataformas de PC serán agregadas. Esta plataforma será optativa, por lo que los usuarios de GOG.com pueden elegir continuar comprando y actualizando sus juegos manualmente como lo han venido haciendo.
Durante este año estarán dando a conocer más noticias del servicio, y por lo pronto están ofreciendo un paquete de preventa para The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — el cual será el primer título en hacer uso de Galaxy — que incluirá una copia de Neverwinter Nights al instante de preordenar, un precio preferencial además de un 10% extra de descuento para quien ya posee The Witcher o The Witchter 2, un libro digital de arte, el comic de The Witcher, y acceso asegurado a la beta del juego de mesa digital The Witcher Adventure, con más bonos dándose a conocer más adelante.

GOG.com Announces Online Gaming Platform, GOG Galaxy, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Pre-orders, and a Brand New Witcher Title
During the CD PROJEKT RED and GOG.com Summer Conference, GOG.com ushered in a new era of DRM-free gaming with the announcement of GOG Galaxy, its brand new technology that places unparalleled freedom over online play and connectivity back in the hands of gamers. With this an entirely optional platform, players can dive into online multiplayer portions of their favorite games, while enjoying single-player anytime they please without needing an internet connection.
